Mistakes/What I Left Behind

from Four by David Charles

/

about

Dear someone (anyone who cares),
Do you hear me?
Are you even there?

I am cloaked in a cloud of grief
Ready to turn over a new leaf
I’ve been here oh so long
I don’t know where all my time has gone

I’ve made mistakes
I can’t replace what I left behind
I make mistakes of the time
I just replay them again in my mind

I’m writing this note to let you know
Time is not moving too fast
Time is just moving too slow

I’m deep inside a pit of doubt
Ready to breathe, ready to sprout
I need to feel the air on my limbs
Ready to move with the wind

I’ve made mistakes
I can’t replace what I left behind
I make mistakes of the time
I just replay them again in my mind

Listen to me
I hope you see what I see

Can I just let go and vent
Let out the smoke before this letter’s sent?
There is nothing left, nothing worthwhile
No more gas beyond this last mile
In closing, can I say I can’t understand my own dense childish brain?
I’d drill a hole and pour in glue
Into my own skull to learn what is true

I’ve made mistakes
I can’t replace what I left behind
I make mistakes of the time
I just replay them over and over in my mind
